Volunteers at ALMH work either occasionally or several
hours each week, completing tasks such as staffing the front
information desk, assisting departments or helping with special
projects. Additionally, volunteers operate the Pink Shutter Thrift
Shop, 114 N. McLean St. in Lincoln, where proceeds benefit the
hospital. "The hospital simply could not operate without the help
of our volunteers," said Dolan Dalpoas, ALMH president and CEO, as
he addressed the attendees. "We are so grateful to you and your
commitment to helping us provide excellent patient care." The volunteers are supervised by Lynne Metz, manager of volunteer
and special services. At the luncheon, Metz reported the impressive
volunteer contributions accomplished during the last fiscal year.
Volunteers answered 43,800 phone calls, assisted 17,800 patients,
made over 6,000 beds in the rehab department, and made over 7,000
lab, pharmacy and record runs. "Your assistance to the ALMH staff allows them to spend more time
with each of our patients," said Metz. "As volunteers, you are a
testament to our mission to improve the health of the people and
communities we serve, and our vision to be a leader for excellence
			in patient care."
