[August 06, 2013]      Send a link to a friend Saturday morning, the Logan
County Fair My Favorite Pie contest was held for the second year. Four outstanding bakers
brought their ingredients and mixed and baked their pies in
front of the Lincoln Stage. At noon the pies were judged by
			Rita Wilson. As participation gifts,
Darlene Begolka, who is a Tupperware dealer, gave each entrant a
Tupperware pie taker. First place went to Brandy Dahmn
with her "Nancy Byal's Cider-infused apple pie" recipeSecond place went to Hannah Riedle with her Cherry Pie recipe
Third place went to Mary Riedle with her Gooseberry Pie recipe
Fourth place went to Jeremiah Williams for his Pecan Pie recipe
 Among the contestants this
year were a grandmother and granddaughter competing.  Mary Riedle baked
a gooseberry pie, while her granddaughter Hannah
prepared cherry. Each contestant was to bring a
pre-made pie to sell at auction. After the judging was
finished, the pies were taken to the beer tent, where the chili
cook-off was wrapping up, and sold to the highest bidder. The recipes from the pie
contest are included in today's coverage of the fair, and will be
permanently available in LDN's Grab Your Fork.
