The countdown to the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival has begun. And, several local balloonists have been seen taking advantage of the splendid mornings and evenings we've been having with low winds. Seth Goodman in his Done Deal was spied Tuesday morning north of Lincoln, floating northward.

The Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame recognized 65 new inductees during the 4-H Family Event on Aug. 10 at the Illinois State Fair.

Kathleen Buse from Logan County is included in the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame Class of 2013. She is leader of the Wide-A-Wake 4-H club, kitchen manager for the spaghetti meal sponsored by the 4-H Foundation, organizer of the summer International Cooking Camp program and a longtime Logan County 4-H volunteer who has put in countless hours of support toward the local 4-H program.

This file photo shows television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz during a photocall at the 2012 Monte Carlo Television Festival in Monaco. On Tuesday, Oz rushed to an accident scene after a yellow cab jumped the curb and struck a pedestrian outside New York's Rockefeller Center. Oz says in a statement that emergency medical crews were already treating the injured woman, who had a bad leg wound. He says a good Samaritan used a belt to make a tourniquet for the woman.
