            SPRINGFIELD -- Good news for
families looking to save a little money after the holidays: The
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum is offering a bargain admission
price every Sunday in January. |

            | Entire families can go to the museum for just $10 on Sundays. Simply
go to the museum's Facebook page at
			www.facebook.com/ lincoln.museum and download a coupon. This is a
significant savings from the normal admission price of $12 per adult
			and $6 per child.
The family must consist of at least one parent and can include
any number of directly related children. The offer cannot be
combined with other discounts or promotions. January makes a great time to learn about the Emancipation
Proclamation, which took effect Jan. 1, 1863 -- 150 years ago.
Museum visitors can see an original copy of the proclamation, one of
the officially printed commemorative copies that Lincoln signed in
full. It's fortunate that the commemorative printing was ordered,
because Lincoln's original manuscript was lost in the Chicago Fire
			of 1871.
In addition, one of the museum's permanent exhibit galleries,
"The Tide Turns," features a section on the 13th Amendment, the
official act that abolished slavery and the central issue in the
recent "Lincoln" film. Visitors will also find "To Kill and To Heal," an exhibit on the
weapons of the Civil War, the wounds they caused, and the work of
doctors and nurses to save soldiers' lives. Another museum exhibit
showcases Benito Juarez, known as "the Mexican Abraham Lincoln" for
his role of leading Mexico through civil war to a more just society.
