            SPRINGFIELD -- Generations ago, 
			retirement was thought of as a time to take it easy -- a time of 
			rocking on porch chairs and reminiscing about the good old days. But 
			that's not the case with the current generation of retirees. In 
			fact, many older people today continue to rock on. Just look at some 
			of the superstars touring and performing concerts this year who are 
			old enough to collect Social Security retirement payments. They're 
			still rocking, but not in chairs.

            Madigan warns residents about medical alert service scam 
			Complaints to 
			attorney general's office report unsolicited calls seeking 
			individuals' financial information  
			SPRINGFIELD -- Attorney General 
			Madigan is alerting Illinois residents to be wary of unsolicited 
			calls advertising purported free medical alert services. Following 
			an uptick in complaints reported to her office, Madigan said call 
			recipients should ignore the solicitation and not provide any 
			personal information to the caller.

            Madigan: Legislation requiring review of suspicious adult deaths 
			sent to governor's desk Measure 
			would require review of at-home deaths of at-risk elderly or disabled 
			adults  
			SPRINGFIELD -- Attorney General 
			Lisa Madigan announced Friday that a bill passed unanimously by the 
			General Assembly would establish review teams of medical 
			professionals, service providers and law enforcement agencies to 
			evaluate suspicious deaths of at-risk elderly or people with 
			disabilities who are living in private residences in Illinois. The 
			measure, sponsored by Rep. Greg Harris, D-Chicago, and Sen. Bill 
			Haine, D-Alton, now goes to the governor for his signature.

            Oasis Lunch and Learn: Area Agency on Aging for Lincolnland 
			announces program for family caregivers 
			In cooperation with Senior 
			Citizens of Logan County, the Area Agency on Aging for Lincolnland 
			has scheduled a Lunch and Learn program for informal caregivers of 
			older adults and for grandparents and other relatives raising 
			children. The program will be at the Oasis Senior Center, 501 
			Pulaski St. in Lincoln, on May 28 from noon to 1 p.m.

            Gov. Quinn proclaims May as Older Americans Month in Illinois Observance 
			highlights state's commitment to providing quality programs that 
			offer independent living and other protections to seniors 
			SPRINGFIELD -- Gov. Pat Quinn 
			has proclaimed May as Older Americans Month in Illinois and joins 
			the Illinois Department on Aging to honor more than 2 million adults 
			age 60 years or older who live in the state. The governor's 
			proclamation coincides with 
			the national observance. Since 1963, the observance each year in May 
			has proven a proud tradition in honoring the value that older adults 
			contribute to our communities.
