Friday morning the Illinois COPS bikers made a pit stop in Lincoln.
Among the 50 or so riders this year was Maurice "Moe" Johnson,
an officer in the Lincoln Police Department. As
the group came into town on Fifth Street, Johnson was given the honor
of riding at the front of the pack as he came into his own town.
The group rode in on Fifth Street, made their way to the Logan County
Safety Complex for a break, then rode on to Atlanta for lunch.
Johnson spoke briefly at the complex saying that the ride thus far
had been great. In spite of the heat, which he said was grueling
Thursday, he was enjoying the ride and the opportunity to get to
know the others who are making the trip.
Johnson said being the leader coming into Lincoln was very
gratifying and somewhat emotional for him.
