Work
began this week on cleaning out the Oasis building in Lincoln. Crews from Menold Construction and Restoration began hauling items out of the building and
cleaning the interior. It has been reported that the crew is dealing with
some mold issues inside the building; thus, they are wearing safety equipment. According to Ellen Burbage,
speaking for the Oasis, it is unknown
whether the items coming out can be saved. The company will make that
determination and save whatever they can.

This
pair of frame grabs provided by NOAA shows images from the wide-angle
camera trained on a weather buoy maintained by the North Pole Environmental
Observatory at the North Pole. The top image is a June 7 frame grab. The
bottom image is a July 25 frame grab. The shallow meltwater lake is
occurring due to an unusually warm period. While July is normally the warmest
month in the Arctic, this year's temperatures have been 2 to 5 degrees
Fahrenheit above normal, according to scientists.
