|  Recognition of Braydon Simpson Zion Lutheran School, Lincoln
 Long jump and high jump are two 
			of the oldest field events in the sport of track and field. Success 
			in both long jump and high jump depends on speed, strength and 
			agility. Braydon Simpson, an eighth-grader at Zion Lutheran School in 
			Lincoln, broke the school record for high jump with a season high of 
			5 feet, 6 inches in 2013. In the long jump Braydon had a season 
			record of 16 feet, 10 inches. 
			
			 Braydon earned many first and second places in both long jump and 
			high jump throughout the 2013 track season. Among eighth-grade boys 
			at the Logan County Track and Field Meet, he placed first in the 
			high jump and second in the long jump. He took first place in long 
			jump and second place in the high jump at the statewide Illinois 
			Lutheran State Track Championship in River Forest.  On June 18, by formal resolution, the Logan County Board 
			congratulated Braydon Simpson on his achievements and wished him 
			continued success in his athletic endeavors. 
			 Recognition of Zach PratherZion Lutheran School, Lincoln
 The discus is one of the oldest field events in the sport of 
			track and field. Success in discus depends on explosive strength, as 
			well as quickness to generate momentum. For Zion Lutheran School eighth-grader Zach Prather, this was the 
			first year that he participated in any athletic competition.  
			
			 Zach took second place in discus for eighth-grade boys at the 
			Logan County Track and Field Meet and second place in discus at the 
			statewide Illinois Lutheran State Track Championship in River Forest 
			with a throw of 121 feet.

			On June 18, by formal resolution, the Logan County Board 
			congratulated Zach Prather on his achievements and wished him

			 In July, the Logan County Board congratulated the West Lincoln-Broadwell 
			School 7-A girls basketball team. Team members included 
			seventh-graders Kaelyn Froebe, Haley Hicks, Autumn Hoffert, Emerie 
			Wieber, Morgan Lolling, Kennedy Lolling and Ali Wilson; 
			sixth-graders Emma Konchyzk and Morgan Mollohan; and fifth-graders 
			Leah Schneider, Adrienne Tiffany, Brook Montcalm and Molly Sawicki. 
			Head coach Kari Froebe and assistant coach Rob Hoffert were also 
			congratulated on their team’s achievements. Participating in athletics helps students learn teamwork, 
			sportsmanship and the skills to handle competitive situations. 
			Studies have shown that girls receive as many benefits from sports 
			as boys. The 7-A girls basketball team at West Lincoln-Broadwell School 
			completed their season with an 18-1 record, including an undefeated 
			regular season. The Lady Wolverines won the Logan County 
			championship in seventh-grade girls basketball and also won the 
			regional and sectional championships. The Lady Wolverines took 
			second place at the seventh-grade 1A state tournament in 
			Bloomington. The Logan County Board wished them continued success in their 
			future endeavors.
