NORMAL -- Last week Gov. Pat
Quinn announced more than $724,000 in capital investments for
construction projects in McLean and Logan counties. The projects are
part of the governor's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois'
			economy forward. |

            | "These projects will make traffic flow more safely and efficiently
in central Illinois and improve a community college campus," Quinn
said. "The projects will also employ a number of construction
workers, which will help the local economy as well." One project
consists of 8.18 miles of patching on Interstate 39 from north of
Interstate 55 to the Woodford County line. Kinney Contractors of
Raymond was the lowest of three bidders at $379,650. The Illinois
Department of Transportation will manage the project. Roadways and parking lots at Heartland Community College in
Normal will be improved for $266,459. United Contractors Midwest of
Bloomington was the lowest of four bidders for the work. The
Illinois Capital Development Board will manage the project.
Another project involves about two miles of resurfacing of an
Interstate 55 frontage road just south of Lawndale in Logan County.
Phoenix Corp. of the Quad Cities, Port Byron, was the lowest of two
bidders at $78,902. The Illinois Department of Transportation will
			manage the project.

The contracts were recently awarded following a competitive
bidding process and address critical infrastructure needs while
creating construction jobs. These projects are part of Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now
program, which is supporting more than 439,000 jobs over six years.
It is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history
and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the
			nation.
