| The owners enjoy the camaraderie of other enthusiasts of the first
automobile produced on an assembly line, the brainchild of Henry
Ford. The chapters get together once a year in June for a tour
weekend. One car of special note belongs to Dennis and Karen Dakan
from Maryville, Mo. Their 1913 Model T has been in the family since
it was new, having been purchased by Dennis' grandfather. Dennis
restored it to like-new condition. A lot of good-natured ribbing was directed at David and Charlotte
Corman of Mount Zion. They arrived in a cherry red 1932 Model A
pickup. The Model A was the successor to the Model T, so the Cormans
were accused of bringing a modern car to the rally. The group is touring central Illinois and will be driving to New
Salem State Park on Saturday. [By CURT FOX] |
