Long before the scheduled starting time of 6
p.m., teams were gathering at their tents, taking time to visit with
each other and renew friendships with relay walkers from past years.
The night was perfect -- a little sun, a little
breeze and comfortable temperatures. In the background of the
relay area, several balloonists were getting ready for an evening
flight. The sight of the brightly colored globes just added to
the already high spirits in the crowd.
