			 Shawn Knauer earns rank of Eagle Scout

            MOUNT PULASKI -- Shawn Knauer, 
			son of Kevin and Monica Knauer of Mount Pulaski and a member of Boy 
			Scout Troop 122, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.In recognition of his achievement, there was a court of honor on 
			Jan. 5 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski. |

			 Knauer completed his Eagle Scout project in September 2012. His 
			project was to pour concrete to install a handicap parking space at 
			the Mount Pulaski Fire Department. The project was funded and 
			supported by the fire department and accomplished with assistance 
			from fellow Scouts and Mick Cyrulik of Mount Pulaski. Knauer recently graduated from Mount Pulaski High School with 
			honors. He was a four-year member of the golf and baseball teams and 
			a two-year member of the basketball team. He was also a four-year 
			member of the concert, marching and pep bands and the Spirit Squad.
			 He is a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and has been 
			an altar server. He was also a member of the youth group that 
			traveled to Memphis, Tenn., as part of the Catholic HEART Workcamp.

             Shawn started in Cub Scouts in 2001 and moved up through the 
			ranks, becoming a member of Boy Scout Troop 122 under leader Greg 
			Maus in March 2006. He was elected to the Order of the Arrow, a 
			Scouting honor society, by his peers. Some highlights of his 
			Scouting career were hiking at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, 
			N.M., and going to Cache Lake Scout Camp in the Canadian boundary 
			waters.  He will attend Illinois State University this fall, majoring in 
			construction management.
