In
this April 16 file photo, members of the Community Renewal Society from
Chicago participate in a "die-in" protest in front of Gov. Pat Quinn's
office at the Illinois Capitol in Springfield. The protest was part of an effort to stop
gun violence and support legislation to stop illegal gun trafficking and
stronger laws for gun registration. As Quinn mulls whether to sign off on eliminating the
nation's last ban on public possession of guns, the question in Chicago is
whether it will matter in the crime-weary city where a spiking murder rate drew
national attention last year.
