| Malfunctioning furnace on Tremont Street On
Feb. 17 at 7:45 p.m., the Lincoln Fire Department
responded to smoke in a house at 1131 Tremont St. Upon
arrival they discovered a single-story house with no
fire visible but light smoke throughout the house. The first-arriving firefighters quickly entered the
house and found the source of the smoke, which is
believed to have been a malfunctioning furnace. A pump
can was used to put out a small fire in the furnace area
of the basement of the house. Lincoln Fire Department
firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Lincoln
Rural Fire Protection District. Fire and smoke damage to the house was estimated to
be around $16,000. The house was occupied by one person, who was taken
to the emergency room at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital by Logan County Paramedics. The victim appeared
to be in good condition, with minor injuries from the
smoke and fire. Lead investigator: Tim AperInvestigator: Phil Uphoff
