In
this footage taken by presidential aide Dave Powers and photographed from a
television screen, President John F. Kennedy, accompanied by his wife,
Jacqueline, waves from his limousine in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963. According to an
AP-GfK survey in April this year, about 6 in 10 Americans say they believe
multiple people were involved in a conspiracy to assassinate President John F,
Kennedy, while only one-fourth think Oswald acted alone. Belief in a conspiracy,
though strong, has declined since a 2003 Gallup poll found 75 percent said they
thought Oswald was part of a wider plot. The Powers film, uncovered by the
Assassination Records Review Board and released Nov. 21, 1996, shows
Kennedy's trip to Texas Nov. 21-22, 1963, prior to the assassination. Powers ran
out of film before the motorcade entered Dealey Plaza, where the fatal shots
were fired.
