Memorial Day rides home available

[May 24, 2013]  There's a safer alternative to driving for anyone who has too much to drink while celebrating Memorial Day this weekend. Safe Ride will be available in Lincoln on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to those who need it. Safe Ride is a free ride home sponsored by the Healthy Communities Partnership.

"Memorial Day celebrations oftentimes involve alcohol. The Healthy Communities Partnership offers Safe Rides to help keep the streets safer for everyone in the community. Our hope is that the community will remember the service is available and that bartenders will suggest it when necessary," said Angela Stoltzenburg, community partnerships manager.

To receive a free ride home within the city limits Friday, Saturday or Sunday, call American Cab of Lincoln at 735-9696 or A Green Cab at 732-8294.
