Saturday afternoon the Humane Society of Logan County held a dedication service for the opening of their new Forever Home Pet Cemetery. The dedication ceremony was done by Pastor Tami Werschey of the Hartsburg United Methodist Church.  Afterward a blessing of the animals was conducted by the Rev. Mark Evans of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Miss Lou (Louella Moreland) stands with a collection of Halloween costumes at the Lincoln Public Library Annex. Over the weekend, the library kicked off a new program, a costume swap. In the swap, kids can bring in their costumes from last year and "trade" them for a costume at the library. Miss Lou said the program got off to a slow start, but it has been done at other area libraries and typically takes a couple of years to catch on, so she's not discouraged.

Sunday afternoon while the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick contest was going on at one end of Eaton Fields, on the other end the Lincoln Youth Football sixth-grade team (pictured at right) and the Springfield Bears (left) were preparing for a faceoff. The LYF season will soon be winding down. It has been another good year for several of the teams. LDN will have additional coverage Tuesday on the Punt, Pass & Kick competition.
