Statue Committee of the Logan County Genealogical & Historical
Society shared their mission and the history of Abraham Lincoln in
Lincoln, Ill., with students from Northwest School. A tour of the State Bank of
Lincoln and the Logan County Genealogical & Historical Society for
the students of Ms Williams' history classes enlightened the students
about the life of Abraham Lincoln and how his life intertwines with
the history of our city. Susan Hurley guided the tour
around the bank, drawing attention to the many pieces of art and
artifacts relating to the 16th president. Historian Paul
Gleason and Wanda Lee Rohlfs presented additional information. At the
historical society building, Mary Ellen Martin and JoAnne Marlin hosted
the kids, with Martin sharing details about genealogy as well as
Abraham Lincoln. The event was hosted by the
Abraham Lincoln Statue Committee to educate and raise awareness of
the statue that will one day be erected on the southwest corner of
			the Logan County Courthouse lawn.
